The alignment between education and employment matters not only at the policy level but also at the individual level. Qualified candidates can be screened out whenever they are unable to express their competencies in the form recruitment processes expect.

The First Step to Career Workshop aims to show how corporate recruitment actually works, from the perspective of a human resources professional. Designed as a short, hands-on session, it gives participants the chance to re-read their own applications through the criteria used to evaluate them.

The workshop is a side event within the conference. Pre-registration is required.

Scope

  • The most common mistakes in application documents and how to fix them
  • What HR professionals focus on during the first review
  • How Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and digital filters work
  • Writing a competency-based CV and reflecting 21st century skills in an application
  • How organisations measure soft skills
  • First impressions before the interview and candidate positioning
